A Whiff of Luxury – My Review on Linen Tutu, a Natural Plant Based Perfume Brand

I’m always continuously learning. From learning how to live more and more sustainably each day, to being more selective about what skincare products to use on my face, and what books to invest my time and money in, I never want to stop learning. Something that I took a deep dive into learning more about was the world of natural plant based perfume.

Let’s talk about the toxicity in perfumes

Did you know that the everyday perfumes we spray on our skin could be more than just a pleasant scent? While they make us smell great, many aren’t as harmless as they seem. A lot of the fragrances in the market aren’t natural and have synthetic components which can be pretty rough on us.

Here’s the deal: synthetic fragrances can actually be so toxic. They may trigger allergic reactions like sneezing, headaches, and even skin rashes. Imagine a tiny army of unwelcome chemicals camping out on your skin, and sometimes they don’t leave without causing trouble. It’s not just skin deep either – these chemicals can affect your insides too, leading to feelings of dizziness and nausea. Sometimes the perfume you use could be the unseen culprit behind that unexplained headache or that random bout of sneezing.

Traditional perfumes often contain a cocktail of synthetic chemicals. When these mix together, they can become something you don’t want to inhale or absorb. Especially when they’re sneaky enough to not be listed in the ingredients.

The good news is, there’s a growing number of natural and plant-based options out there. These alternatives get their aroma from pure ingredients, reducing the chance of running into toxic trouble. So next time you’re out perfume shopping, consider going for a fragrance that’s kind to both your nose and your health. To help you with perfume shopping, allow me to introduce you to a natural perfume brand called Linen Tutu.

My Review on Linen Tutu, A Natural Perfume Brand

I recently discovered Linen Tutu, a female owned natural perfume brand, focusing on plant-based perfumes, and I was immediately intrigued by their debut collection. I want to quickly say that while the perfumes were sent to me to try, these are my honest thoughts and opinions.

My First Impressions on Linen Tutu, a Plant-Based Perfume

I just want to skip to it and say I absolutely love the branding. It’s clean, minimalistic, and very feminine. The overall vibe of Linen Tutu is reminiscent of a fluffy cloud on a warm spring day.

While the branding is feminine, the brand caters as much to those who are in search of plant-based perfume for men as to those seeking plant-based perfume for her. I always say, clothing, colors, and scents have no genderwear what you like. I can see all genders falling in love with this brand and the selection of perfumes they carry.

Discovering Linen Tutu, a Non Toxic Perfume Brand

Linen Tutu was founded by Daniela Carrasco, an aroma therapist and sensory designer who loves to incorporate her love of the Hudson Valley into her scents. This region plays a massive part in her production of some of the best plant-based perfumes I’ve come across.

I totally relate to this. There are certain places that we tend to just love the most and love to dedicate scents to them. If I were also a skilled aromatherapist, there’s no doubt I would create dedicated scents for Carmel by the Sea, Big Sur, and Humboldt County.

I’m grateful that now I have a piece of the Hudson Valley in my home. While I still have yet to visit, I can confidently say I have a scent to refer it back to when I do visit one day.

Linen Tutu’s Brand Philosophy and Values

Linen Tutu’s commitment to providing a natural organic perfume collection shows their understanding of the increasing demand for natural perfumes without chemicals. Moreover, they follow a plant-based ethos and pay significant attention to non-toxic perfume ingredients.

Linen Tutu impresses not just with their plant-based perfume offerings but also the knowledge that these are natural perfumes made without cruelty, ensuring a guilt-free luxury that caters even to vegan perfume enthusiasts.

The brand takes pride in practicing sustainability, committing to environmental causes, and sourcing all their ingredients responsibly? Music to my ears.

Linen Tutu’s Natural Fragrance Collection

From natural plant-based perfume blends like the UP 1 Eau de Parfum to the intriguing scent stories of Hearsay @3 Eau de Parfum, and the warmth of LATELY 5, each natural perfume is designed to carry you through a memorable olfactory journey, showcasing which plants are used to make perfumes beautifully.

I was gifted the discovery set as well as the Hearsay @3 Eau de Parfum.

I love Hearsay @3. I love that it smells a bit masculine but is very unique. This blend of bergamot, hibiscus musk, ambergris, and amyris just makes you smell like such an it girl. I’m not the best at describing scents, so I’ll just tell you what situations I would best opt for this scent. I would wear this for a sunset dinner at Nobu in Malibu, with a white silk dress and messy waves in my hair. I would wear this while on a vineyard in Napa Valley in the spring, with an olive green green pantsuit adorned with antique, gold jewelry. Lastly, I would wear this to brunch with my mom, along the coast in Santa Barbara, sipping on a glass of Chardonnay while the sun glitters along the water.

This scent makes you feel good. It makes you feel clean, fresh, and alive all at once.

Personal Experience with the Scents

Sampling each organic plant-based perfume in their line-up, I was completely taken with the quality. Each one seemed perfectly suited for both men and women, providing a versatile plant-based perfume for anyone. My boyfriend loves Hearsay @3 as well! He’s been reaching for this instead of his Le Labo colognes, which says a lot.

Side note: When I was smelling the fragrances for the first time, I accidentally sprayed some perfume on my face. While any other perfume would have stung my face and probably induce an eczema outbreak because of the alcohol content, I actually didn’t feel a sting or discomfort from it. Loved that.

Price Point Consideration

At first glance, $150.00 might seem a bit steep for each individual perfume, and the discovery set at $45.00 is indeed an investment. However, considering these are some of the best plant-based perfumes you can find, I’d say it’s a worthy investment into a non-toxic perfume that has an incredible scent story to tell.

Assessing the Scent Quality

Each perfume unveiled its rich, complex character gracefully over time. The scents’ longevity serves as a testament to the quality of these natural perfumes.

There are a few ways that I like to keep my perfume smelling great all day long. A few tricks I’ve learned over the years:

  1. Spray your outfit with your perfume and then keep it inside a plastic bag overnight. It’s like marinating beef before you put it on the grill.
  2. As soon as I get out of the shower, I dry myself and spray perfume all over, let it dry, add oil, spray again, then add lotion on top, and then spray it again. It works like a charm.
  3. A new trick I just learned: spraying your scarves with it and doing the plastic bag trick, then tying it to your bag! It literally leaves everyone speechless when you walk by.
