Wildhaven Yosemite: Best Glamping in Yosemite

I’m so excited to tell you all the reasons why you should book a stay at Wildhaven Yosemite, but first off – let’s get down to the basics of glamping.

What is glamping?

If you’ve never heard of glamping, it’s essentially upscale camping. You’re saying goodbye to pitching your own tent, sleeping on the ground, and having a comfortable restroom situation. Glamping welcomes you into a world where nature meets luxury and comfort.

Picture this: you arrive to find a spacious, high-quality tent or cabin already set up for you, equipped with comfortable beds, plush linens, and air conditioning and heating. You get the best of both worlds – the serene beauty and tranquility of the outdoors, combined with the comforts and amenities you’d expect from a high-end hotel.

It’s an opportunity to experience the rawness of nature without sacrificing comfort, making it perfect for those who love the idea of camping but aren’t keen on the traditional setup and hardships that can come with it.

Where can I go glamp in Yosemite?

There are lots of glamping accommodations in Yosemite. From Autocamp, Mariposa Fair Bungalow Tent Cabins, and Wildhaven Yosemite, you’ll find one that’ll meet all your needs.

What is the best time of year to go glamping in Yosemite?

The best time of year to go glamping in Yosemite largely depends on what you’re looking to get out of your visit! Generally, the popular seasons for visiting Yosemite National Park, with its diverse range of activities and scenic beauty, are late spring and early fall.

Waterfall Season

During late spring, usually around May to early June, the waterfalls in Yosemite are at their peak due to the melting snow. This time of year is perfect for those wanting to witness the park’s natural wonders while enjoying comfortable glamping experiences.

Autumn Season

On the other hand, early fall, particularly September and October, offers cooler temperatures, fewer crowds, and the chance to see the vibrant autumn leaves. Both of these periods provide a great balance of good weather and natural attractions, making them ideal times for a glamping adventure in Yosemite.

A Peek Into the Accommodations

There are three different types of accommodations at Wildhaven Yosemite. You can book a Premium Tent, Standard Tent, or a Cabin!

Premium Tents

The Premium Tents are perched on an uphill location above the Standard Tents. There’s the Premium 1 Tent and the Premium 2 Tent. Premium 1 comes with one queen bed and is perfect for two adults or solo travelers, and Premium 2 comes with two queen beds, perfect for small families or girls getaways!

The Premium Tent offers a safari-style, all-canvas tent, featuring a spacious 168 square feet interior with towering 9-foot ceilings, complemented by two windows and a screened door that ensures ample light and ventilation.

With queen-sized bed + a memory-foam mattress, heated mattress pad, quality linens, plush comforter, and an additional blanket for a restful night, all glampers are ensured the coziest nights.

The tent’s interior comes well-appointed with nightstands, lamps, shelves, clothing rack, towels, mirror, a trash can, and a cozy rug to add homey comfort and warmth on chilly evenings. Of course, there’s electricity and on-site wifi, and you’ll find bedside USB outlets and standard plugs ready to be used at the end of the day when you get home from a day’s worth of exploring the nearby town of Mariposa or Yosemite National Park.

Temperature control is managed with a space heater and heated mattress pad for the chilly nights, and a fan to circulate air during warmer weather. The distinctive 8-foot long covered front deck boasts a picnic table and gas fire pit, providing a serene space for unwinding after a day of adventures. Each tent has a dedicated parking spot plus availability for an extra vehicle in the visitor area.

Standard Tents

The Standard 2 Queen Tent is located in the lower tent area. Here’s what to love about the 180 square foot safari-style canvas tent—its generous size, complemented by towering 8-foot ceilings, large waterproof rain fly, and an airy screened-in door. The interior has so much natural light coming through the three windows. Two queen-sized beds are decked with memory foam mattresses, heated pads, and luxurious linens. There are extra blankets if you get cold as well!

To add a homey vibe to the tent, there are nightstands with bedside lamps for a soft glow in the evening, convenient shelves, a clothes hanging rack, and a large rug to tie it all in together.

Because it is glamping, there is electricity in the tent. There are bedside USB outlets for charging your phones/devices and standard plugs for other essentials (note: high-voltage devices are a no-go, keep the Dyson at home). You can use the plugs to turn on the space heater and/or the fan, ensuring comfort at all times.

The Standard 2 Queen Tend includes a 4-foot covered ‘front yard’ with a patio set and picnic table, offering the perfect spot for that morning cup of joe or evening reflections.

As for communal areas, there’s a communal fire pit, restrooms, and family-friendly bathrooms and outdoor showers.

The same features also apply to the Standard Bunk Tent, however this includes only one queen bed and four twin bunk beds.

Cabins

There are three different types of cabins you can book at Wildhaven Yosemite: the Classic Cabin Studio, Classic Cabin 1 Bedroom, and the Valley View Cabin.

The Classic Cabin Studio is perfect for families or girls getaways. It has the cutest layout ever, and it’s perfect for up to 4 people! Cozily sized at 200 square feet, the cabin has so much natural light courtesy of its three windows and lofty ceilings, and has a bedroom, bathroom with shower, and a kitchenette, complemented by an overhead loft accessible via ladder.

The Classic Cabin Studio offers a queen bed adorned with a memory-foam mattress, fine linens, a comforter, and an extra blanket, in addition to two twin beds in the loft tailored exclusively for children, with the option of adding a third twin mattress for an extra charge when booking.

The cabin interiors includes nightstands, bedside lamps, storage shelves, a clothing rack, towels, a mirror, and a large rug; device charging is made easy with bedside USB outlets and standard plugs. There’s an air-conditioner and heater to ensure comfort throughout the seasons.

The majestic Mariposa foothills are framed beautifully by an expansive picture window. The outdoor space, a signature Wildhaven feature, flaunts a spacious private patio with a picnic table, and a firepit complemented with patio furnishings positioned to embrace the foothill vista. Each cabin is allocated one parking space, plus additional parking for one more vehicle in the visitor area.

The Classic Cabin 1 Bedroom and Valley View Cabin have the same features as the Classic Cabin Studio, minus the lofted bedroom. Instead, both cabins come with a futon, a living area, and a private bedroom!

Amenities & Services

Happy Hour at the Pergola

All guests are invited to the Happy Hour at 5PM, where you can indulge in a glass of wine or beer, have some small bites, and meet other glampers! Being up at the pergola is such a treat, I highly recommend walking up there during sunrise or sunset, and of course, for happy hour.

Firewood & S’mores Kits

You’re welcome to pre-order firewood and s’mores kits or order at any time during your stay. I love this as it’s convenient and there’s nothing like having a sweet treat after exploring all day.

Hiking Trails

Wildhaven Yosemite offers easy, scenic loop trails accessible right from your tent or cabin door, guiding you through beautiful viewpoints.

Communal Spaces

Socialize and create lasting memories in the beautiful communal spaces provided by Wildhaven Yosemite. These well-designed areas encourage guests to relax, extend their living space beyond the confines of their tent or cabin, and connect with fellow travelers. Whether you’re sharing stories, enjoying a meal together, or simply soaking up the serene environment, these spaces elevate the sense of community in the great outdoors.

Amazing Views

Perched on a hillside, the Wildhaven Yosemite offers more than just accommodation; it provides breathtaking panoramas of mountains, rolling hills, the charming town of Mariposa, and spellbinding sunsets. Guests can savor these vistas by stepping just a few paces from their temporary homes, ensuring that the natural beauty of the region is always within sight.

Dog-Friendly Lodging

Wildhaven Yosemite’s dog-friendly policy means that every tent and cabin welcomes your pets. Hopefully that changes to cat-friendly soon! *wink*

Coffee & Tea

Mornings at Wildhaven Yosemite begin with a complimentary selection of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, perfect for kick-starting a day of exploration. Take your warm beverage to one of the communal areas for a soothing sunrise experience, setting a tranquil tone for the adventures ahead.

There are benches situated along trails, I highly recommend going up there by yourself, bringing a book or a journal, and of course your tea/coffee, and just spending the morning all to yourself. It’s absolutely breathtaking.

Trip Planning Help

If it’s your first time visiting the area, I highly recommend maximizing your stay in Yosemite with the Guest Services Team at your disposal. Whether you need assistance with crafting itineraries, planning excursions, or procuring retail items like wine, beer, ice, and firewood, the team is eager to enhance your experience and streamline your visit to this majestic landscape.

Yoga, Music & Tastings

Wildhaven Yosemite offers a unique twist to embracing the outdoors through complimentary summer activities like Yogasemite yoga classes, Sierra Cider tastings, and live music performances by local bands such as Soul Galaxy. Engage in these events set against a picturesque valley overlook, enriching your outdoor stay with culture, relaxation, and local flavors.

Complimentary WiFi

While completely unplugging is a tempting offer, Wildhaven Yosemite acknowledges the need to remain connected. Complimentary WiFi is available for guests to keep in touch with loved ones, share photos and adventures online, or even ignite a touch of envy among friends with the spectacular experiences you’re having.

Group Spaces

Consider Wildhaven Yosemite for an extraordinary outdoor event venue. Whether you’re looking to reserve one of the two main communal spaces or book the entire property for larger gatherings, this destination provides an unforgettable backdrop for your event!

Close Proximity to Mariposa

You’re literally 5 minutes away from the town of Mariposa. You can take a stroll around the town, get some gas for your car, meet locals at a pub or restaurant, and go to a convenience store to further enhance your glamping experience or help you prepare for a day out in Yosemite National Park.

Planning Your Visit to Wildhaven Yosemite

Here are a few tidbits to keep in mind before booking a stay at Wildhaven Yosemite and visiting Yosemite National Park!

Make Reservations to Visit Yosemite National Park

Visiting Yosemite National Park is in high demand, and so to preserve its natural beauty and ensure visitors can enjoy the full experience, entrance reservations are required on the following 2024 dates: Apr 13 to Jun 30 (weekends and holidays only), Jul 1 to Aug 16 (daily), and again from Aug 17 to Oct 27 (weekends and holidays only).

Jump over to the YNP’s reservation page for the details and to reserve your spot. Alternatively, leave the car behind and hop on the Yosemite-area shuttle (YARTS) from Mariposa, just a mile away from Wildhaven Yosemite. Keep in mind though that shuttle spots are limited and reservations are a must!

Guidelines for your stay at Wildhaven Mariposa

After 10pm and before 8am, it’s all about whispers. Keep voices low to ensure fellow glampers can listen to nature’s lullaby and wake up refreshed. Also, leave your portable speaker and loud electronics at home as the cabins are very close to one another and could disrupt your neighbors’ peace.

If staying at one of the Premium or Standard tents, bring your own cutlery and silverware as you’ll be eating at the communal BBQ area.

If staying at a cabin, use Goodwood for your firepits. Just a note that you’re not allowed to bring your own firewood to your campsite unless it’s Goodwood, because it’s a low-spark and safer firewood type!

Why Wildhaven Yosemite Should Be Your Next Glamping Destination

From comfort, convenience, cleanliness, and to being a very aesthetically pleasing glampsite, I highly recommend booking a stay at Wildhaven Yosemite.

It’s perfect for those who are not so outdoorsy and those who are very outdoorsy. It’s perfect for couples, families, BFF getaways, and solo travelers. With its close proximity to the nearby town of Mariposa and to Yosemite National Park, it makes it the perfect place to call home for a few days.
