Discover One of the Best Hotels in Stinson Beach: Surf Lodge Review
Stinson Beach is the perfect getaway spot, especially for those who live in San Francisco. With just an hour-long drive from the heart of the city, the journey is equally enticing as the destination itself. It’s a memorable journey filled with breathtaking scenic views of California’s stunning Pacific coastline, Mt. Tamalpais, and Muir Woods that bring you true inner peace. For those that need an escape out of the city from time to time, this is the place to be. While it may be just an hour long drive, it feels like it goes on for forever because of how much there is to take in! Plus, I love that it’s just a straight shot from the city. Just take the 1 and you’re there! If you’re looking for where to stay in Stinson Beach, Surf Lodge might just be the place for you.
Location & Accessibility
Surf Lodge in Stinson Beach is conveniently located right on Shoreline Highway (also known as Pacific Coast Highway) as soon as you enter into the town. Because of its close proximity to restaurants, shops, and the beach, this is the perfect place to call home for the weekend. You can literally just roll out of bed, grab a coffee at the nearby café, and head out to enjoy the sun and waves.
First Impressions of Surf Lodge in Stinson Beach
My actual first impression when I first drove to the property was, “Wow. We’re already here!” The drive from San Francisco isn’t too long, in fact it’s very scenic, and as soon as you enter Stinson Beach, you’ll find that Surf Lodge is right off the highway, close to the entrance of the town. Again, I loved its close proximity to everything in town as well as the ocean.
Another thing is the classic California beach bungalow vibe – which Surf Lodge has done so well at. The cool blue tones against the forest in the back on a gloomy morning is just *chef’s kiss*.
Everything about the property is perfect. I wouldn’t change a single thing.
Tour of the Longboard Studio: Surf Lodge Review
Upon walking into my room, I was impressed by its quintessential cool California beach vibe. I loved the breezy, bohemian, breezy aesthetic that the property had. From the natural and organic materials, light and airy feel, and indoor-outdoor vibe, I felt right at home. The earthy and muted color palette put me at ease as well. Just the way this hotel was designed was meant to put you in relaxation mode.
The Longboard Studio has a giant bed, two lounge chairs, a kitchenette, and a very spacious bathroom. If you really wanted to, you could stay here for a long term stay as you would have everything you need.
The cherry on top was the Dutch door. Having this door means you can have it half open and be able to smell the ocean, feel the slight ocean breeze slip into your room, and hear the birds chirp in the morning.
On-Site Offerings at Surf Lodge Stinson Beach
As far as on-site offerings, the property offers a wine hour for all guests to enjoy in the afternoon. You’ll find a bottle of both red and white, some fresh fruit, and cheese to enjoy in the common lounge area.
To ensure you’re extra cozy, they also have blankets for you to use while outside!
Customer Service
The staff at Surf Lodge are excellent. Both Cameron and Kelly go above and beyond for all guests, ensuring you’re comfortable, safe, happy, and sound throughout your stay.
The one thing to love about Stinson Beach is that everyone, locals and visitors alike, are just super happy people, ready to chitchat with you, and get to know you. There’s a certain aura that blankets this small coastal town in Marin County, setting a super welcoming and warm vibe.
You’ll feel it strongly within the walls of Surf Lodge as well.
