Everything You Need to Know About Graton Resort & Casino

When I was a kid, I spent a lot of my time at casino resorts and hotels, thanks to my grandfather, who had taken a liking, more-so loving, to playing Pai Gow, a popular casino card game blending elements of the ancient Chinese game Pai Gow with traditional poker. He bought a couple of homes in Las Vegas with all of his earnings from playing Pai Gow in the evening while also running a successful law firm during the daytime. Ironically, we never spent time in those homes but instead at casino resorts, where (as a kid) it was like Disneyland, but better.

Why I Love Casino Resorts

Now, as a grown adult, the faint humming of slot machines, the shuffling from endless decks of cards, and the smell of cigarettes brings me utmost comfort. I especially loved when we’d go into the VIP rooms and I’d be gifted a chocolate chip cookie (from Palms Resort & Casino) or an apple (from Red Rock Casino). During the daytime, he would give me cash and drop me off at either the Fashion Square Mall or Town Square to shop while he went on to work with his clients. In the evenings, I would be at a hotel room either by myself or with my grandmother, where we’d be sorting through our shopping bags from the day and eating leftovers from the lunch we had at Makino.

It was a sweet childhood to say the least. One I’ll always look back at fondly.

Because of this childhood of mine, it was hard to impress me when it came to such grand things. The Wynn Tower Suites was my playground, and the Red Rock pool was my backyard. So imagine my surprise when I took a liking to the Graton Resort & Casino. Was it the nostalgia? Was it the high end staff service? Was it the spa and how amazing it was? You’ll just have to continue reading my Graton Resort & Casino review.

If you’re visiting Sonoma County and looking for an exciting blend of casino gaming, luxury accommodations, and top-notch entertainment, Graton Resort & Casino in Rohnert Park should be on your radar. Owned and operated by the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, this Northern California casino destination combines modern amenities with a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Whether you’re a casual gamer, a high roller, or simply looking for a luxurious stay near wine country, here’s everything to know about Graton Resort & Casino, including a detailed review, amenities overview, gaming options, dining, and expansion updates.

History and Background of Graton Resort & Casino

As mentioned earlier, when I walked around the property, it felt like I was at Red Rock Casino & Resort. I quickly did a Google Search to see if Graton was owned by the same company that owns Red Rock Casino, Station Casinos, because the font to the bathrooms, the signage, and everything was oddly similar to Red Rock.

As it turns out ,Station Casinos previously managed Graton Resort & Casino for a seven-year period after it opened in 2013, but that management agreement was not renewed after it expired in February 2021.

Since then, Graton has been independently managed by the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, a Native American tribe based in California.

The resort has contributed significantly to Sonoma County’s economy through job creation and revenue sharing. The hotel tower opened in 2016, making Graton a full-service casino resort, popular for wine country visitors seeking gaming and luxury accommodation near Sonoma County wineries. Also, a casino resort with an amazing wine selection? A total win-win if you’re asking me.

When booking, go big or go home. I recommend booking the one bedroom suite as it’s the perfect size and has that “home away from home” feel to it. The Spa at Graton Resort & Casino

When staying at the Graton Resort & Casino, I highly recommend taking full advantage of the spa, which is adjacent to the gym. All guests have access to the spa, and you have the option of booking services. I booked a hot stone massage and a facial. Both were incredible.
