Introducing the Salon Des Rêves at Domaine Carneros
Notably known as one of the prettiest, most Instagrammable places in all of Napa Valley, Domaine Carneros has always had a luxurious appeal that has attracted both tourists and locals time and time again. Known for its exquisite sparkling wines and château-style grandeur, this iconic winery just unveiled its newest offering: The Salon Des Rêves. Designed for both members and first-time visitors, this experience promises a whole different experience than what you’d probably expect.
What to Expect at the Salon Des Rêves at Domaine Carneros
Like I said, it’s far from what you’d expect at the Domaine Carneros château. When you think of Domain Carneros, you think of sunbathing outside with stunning views of the valley or sitting inside at the parlor, as if you’ve been transported to France. However, with Salon Des Rêves, you’ll start off by going down a private staircase and into a moody, dimly lit Art Deco-inspired lounge. Here, you’ll find shades of moody green and gold (an ode to the design of their bottles) creating an ambiance that feels super opulent and exclusive. My personal favorite? Pink walls embellished with crystals, symbolizing the sparkling wines they’re so well known for.
Upon entry, you will be greeted with a splash of sparkling wine, and an amuse-bouche, setting the stage for an unforgettable tasting adventure.
As for your view, you’ll gain an insider’s insight into the winemaking and bottling process—a behind-the-scenes look at how your bottles are crafted before you take one (or three) home!
Finally, expect nothing short of remarkable, first-rate service. I must extend a special thank you to Alejandro and Jess for their attentive care and for providing exceptionally informative answers to my questions about the bottle-making process, as well as detailed insights into the wines and delicacies I was enjoying. It made the experience 100 times better.
The Tasting Experience: The Plats de Perles Experience
The star of the Salon Des Rêves is its pairing experience, the Plats de Perles. This is designed to be an indulgent oyster and wine pairing, introducing you to three of Domaine Carneros’s exceptional méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines: the Estate Brut, Brut Rosé, and Verméil Demi-Sec.
The Plats de Perles experience is $80 per person (or $64 if you’re a member of the Château Society). Please note that reservations for this experience have to be made at least four days in advance.
When you reserve your spot, you can also pre-order exclusive enhancements:
- An additional six oysters for $25
- Cevice and blue corn chips for $22
- An upgraded wine flight featuring the 2019 Ultra Brut, 2017 Late Disgorged Brut, and the 2016 Le Rêve Blanc de Blancs for an additional $15
During your experience, you can order the following to enhance your experience:
- Any caviar from their our Tsar Nicoulai Caviar selection, sustainably raised and EcoCert-certified, available as two half-ounce servings for $80
- Gourmet delights with Blue Cove Branzino, served with a local baguette, crackers, herbed soft cheese, Castelvetrano olives, and Marcona almonds, available in two flavorful options for $35 each
- The ‘Salon 75,’ a sparkling cocktail inspired by the French 75, crafted with Ultra Brut, lemongrass syrup, juniper extract, and fresh lemon juice for $22
Planning Your Visit to the Salon Des Rêves
The Salon Des Rêves experience lasts 90 minutes and welcomes guests aged 21 and over. Reservations are essential, especially for larger parties, and a cancellation policy requiring a four-day notice is in effect to avoid penalties.
