Back in the ’80s, the Taittinger family, led by Claude Taittinger, scouted locations globally to establish a winery dedicated to producing méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines outside of France. Their search led them to the cool climate and rolling hills of Carneros, Napa Valley.
The region’s terroir, with its unique mix of fog, wind, and marine influences, was the perfect setting for crafting sparkling wines that could rival the elegance and complexity of their own Champagne.
Then finally, in ’87, they officially launched Domaine Carneros! Together with Eileen Crane, who is often referred to as America’s Doyenne of Sparkling Wine, they’ve built a legacy of luxury wines that perfectly blend the brevity and beauty of Californian viticulture with the traditional techniques and soul of French Champagne making.
