A Serene Bayside Experience: Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa Review
Review of Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa
The History of the Casa Madrona
When you first lay eyes on Casa Madrona, the Victorian façade will absolutely catch your attention, making you feel like you’re about to step into a piece of history. However, once you step inside, you’ll walk into a beautiful space, embodying high-end contemporary interior design.
Casa Madrona isn’t just a pretty face; its rich history is a story worth telling, especially since it’s not well known. Originally built in 1885 as a luxurious private residence, it made its debut as a hotel in 1906, securing its place as one of the oldest hotel properties in Marin County. Since then, it has evolved into an iconic destination, attracting celebrities and becoming a cherished escape for travelers from around the world.
The hotel’s dedication to preservation and excellence is evident, with a significant restoration in the 1970s followed by a major renovation in 2010, both of which have helped maintain its grandeur and appeal.
Accommodation Types
There are three accommodation types at the Casa Madrona, and if you’re asking me – I think you should splurge and book a Hillside Cottage.
Hillside Cottages
These cottages are absolutely perfect. When staying here, you have breathtaking views of the Richardson Bay, you’re surrounded by lush greenery, and you’ll even be greeted by deer in the early hours of the morning. The interior is very cozy, very nautical (without being too corny), and come with lots of space.
The Hillside Cottage comes with a bedroom, a pull out couch, and a nook, making it the perfect, cozy suite for families, girls’ getaways, and couples.
Historic Mansion: The Alexandrite Suite
The Alexandrite Suite is a stunning suite to book. If you’re seeking a lavish getaway, definitely look into booking this spacious suite. This suite offers a residential-style experience, with amenities such as an expansive desk and a personal steam room. It’s incredibly spacious and perfect for larger families, or bigger groups.
Contemporary Rooms
These rooms are minimalistic, have advanced room technologies, and provide beautiful views of the courtyard. These rooms are perfect for solo travelers and business travelers.
What Makes This the Best Wellness Boutique Hotel in Sausalito
There are many reasons as to why this is the best wellness spot in Sausalito.
The Spa at Casa Madrona
A trip to the Casa Madrona would be incomplete without indulging in a treatment at the spa. The spa provides tailored treatments that will make you feel rejuvenated, replenished, and well taken care of. You’ll love the serene ambience and the skilled staff.
Sunday Yoga Flow
The property recently introduced their newest amenity, which is yoga every Sunday. These free yoga classes will be held every Sunday morning at the Junto room, where you can indulge in a replenishing yoga flow overlooking the bay. The girls at Arc Yoga will be teaching these classes every Sunday.
For those who aren’t staying at the property but would like to partake in the activity, you can purchase tickets for $20. This ticket will ensure you have a spot at the yoga class and you have access to the spa and gym after!
Special Offers and Packages
The Casa Madrona also offers special offers and packages, such as the Get Cozy Package, which provide discounted accommodations and an Irish Coffee Cocktail Kit, the Escape & Un’wined Package, which provides free parking, discounted accommodations, and a bottle of wine, the Mama Moon, which provides spa services, a welcome gift, and free parking, and a few more.
There’s also a package for those who wish to bring their pooch (yes, this is a dog-friendly property!) and those who are California residents.
Their newest package, the Wellness Package, provides guests with non-alcoholic beverages upon arrival as well as bath products to indulge in.
Dining Experience: Poggio Trattoria
Adjacent to the property is Poggio Trattoria, a restaurant that serves authentic Northern Italian cuisine! The restaurant provides patio dining, making it the perfect place to indulge in a glass of wine and people watch.
Experiences and Activities
There is much to do in Sausalito. Whether it’s shopping, hiking, fishing, or just eating, you’ll never get bored here. The hotel’s proximity to local attractions and San Francisco via ferry makes exploring a breeze. You can stroll along the Sausalito waterfront, visit art galleries, and grab a coffee from one of the many cafes that they have.
Personal Experience at the Casa Madrona
I absolutely loved my stay at the Casa Madrona. This is a boutique hotel that I would love to take my mom and aunt to, as I know they would love this property as much as I do. The staff is very attentive, and we appreciated getting a lift from one of their house cars up to our cottage.
Personally, if I were to return, I would book another room at the Hillside Cottage because of how marvelous the view is. I felt like I was in a postcard, just soaking up the views.
So yes, this is the best boutique hotel in Sausalito
I highly recommend staying here for your next trip up to the Bay Area.
