The bathroom was perfection, just the perfect size. I loved all the thoughtful touches, which made the stay even more memorable.

Dining & Culinary Offerings
As a foodie, the dining offerings is a key part of my Carmel Valley Ranch review! Let’s get into it!
Valley Kitchen at Carmel Valley Ranch
Valley Kitchen, the resort’s signature restaurant, serves up farm-to-table cuisine with ingredients sourced from the property’s own gardens and beehives (which you can visit during your stay!). The outdoor terrace is a dreamy spot for breakfast or dinner, with sweeping valley views.
When dining here, I recommend going carte blanche and letting the team choose what you eat and sip during your experience—it’s your vacation, after all!
River Ranch Cafe at Carmel Valley Ranch
Don’t miss the River Ranch Café for delicious bites—it recently got a facelift and now features a beautiful bar where you can grab a drink, plus mouthwatering burgers with gorgeous views of the golf course. The restaurant also has a pool, so you can take a soak after your meal!
Lastly, you can sign up for one of the interactive culinary experiences if you’re feeling inspired.

Outdoor Activities at Carmel Valley Ranch
The best way to experience Carmel Valley Ranch is by exploring its extensive on-property hiking trails. The resort sits on hundreds of acres, offering a variety of routes for all skill levels. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking for a gentle stroll, the trails here are designed to immerse you in the natural beauty of the valley.
Trail Highlights
- The Huff ‘N’ Puff & Horseshoe Trail Loop is a guest favorite, providing a 1.5-mile easy-to-moderate hike that showcases some of the property’s most scenic points. Starting at the Bluff Suites parking lot, the loop takes you through shaded woodlands, up to panoramic lookouts like Sunrise Knob and Sunset Point, and past peaceful pastures and vineyards.
- Along the way, you’ll come across unique features such as a yoga platform, a tree swing, and picnic areas—perfect for a mid-hike break. Don’t forget your water and some snacks! You’ll need it during the hike.
Visiting the Animals at Carmel Valley Ranch
Hiking around Carmel Valley Ranch isn’t just about the views—the property comes with local wildlife that you won’t want to miss out on. It’s common to spot deer grazing in the meadows, wild turkeys strutting through the grass, and a variety of birds flitting among the oaks! Furthermore, you can meet the goats, donkeys, cows, and alpacas that live on property. They are so adorable! The ranch’s animal residents are definitely a highlight for many guests, especially families.

Wellness & Spa
No Carmel Valley Ranch review would be complete without a mention of Spa Aiyana—a sanctuary for relaxation, offering treatments that use organic, locally sourced products. The fitness center is well-equipped, and there are complimentary wellness classes for guests looking to stay active. Whether you’re indulging in a massage or joining a yoga session, it’s easy to prioritize self-care here.
What Makes Carmel Valley Ranch Stand Out
Carmel Valley Ranch isn’t just another luxury resort—it’s a place that encourages you to “grow young,” reconnect with your playful side, and try something new.
The blend of upscale amenities and hands-on activities means there’s something for everyone. Complimentary daily experiences, heated pools, and animal encounters are just a few of the thoughtful touches that will make your stay here memorable.

Significance of the Tree Swing
The tree swings scattered throughout Carmel Valley Ranch are more than just charming photo spots—they are a central symbol of the resort’s playful spirit and philosophy. The iconic rope swing actually serves as the logo for Carmel Valley Ranch (and their wine brand Swing), representing the sense of freedom, nostalgia, and simple joy that the property aims to evoke for every guest.
These swings invite guests of all ages to pause, relax, and reconnect with their inner child, embodying the “summer camp for grown-ups” vibe that sets the ranch apart. There are several swings on the property, including one in front of the Lodge and another by the vineyard and lavender field, each offering a peaceful place to take in the scenery and savor the moment.
Sturdy enough for adults and beloved by families, the swings are woven into the landscape and guest experience, encouraging everyone to slow down, enjoy nature, and create lasting memories—making them a meaningful and memorable part of any stay at Carmel Valley Ranch.

Experiences & Activities
A highlight of any Carmel Valley Ranch review is the wide variety of experiences available. Outdoor lovers can hike scenic trails, bike through the hills, or tee off on the only Pete Dye-designed golf course in Northern California. There are four heated saltwater pools, hot tubs, and plenty of space to lounge.
But what really sets Carmel Valley Ranch apart—something you’ll read in any honest Carmel Valley Ranch review—are the unique experiences: artisan workshops, beekeeping adventures, equine encounters, and hands-on culinary demos. Families will love the River Ranch hub, complete with pools, a splash pad, and the Adventure Den for kids. Tennis, pickleball, and daily themed activities mean there’s never a dull moment.
During my stay, my girl friend and I partook in a spring wreath making workshop, which was my favorite part of our stay. For this experience, we went to the garden, snipped off some rosemary and local wildflowers, and ate some of the carrots and vegetables that the garden had! The hands-on experience was both relaxing and inspiring, allowing us to connect with the land and take home a beautiful, handmade souvenir. It was a perfect blend of creativity, nature, and fun—definitely a highlight of our Carmel Valley Ranch stay.

Unwinding with a S’mores Kit + Bottle of Pinot Noir from Swing
Unwinding at Carmel Valley Ranch is truly special thanks to its inviting hot tubs and delightful s’mores kits. This was my favorite part of our girls’ trip – where we got to chat about everything we did at the property, how much we loved it, and soaking in the stunning hot tub. Open 24 hours, this hot tub offers sweeping views of the vineyards and valley—making it one of the most Instagrammable spots on the property!
